It wasn’t a good night for Kurt Zouma in the Champions League clash against Sevilla at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, as the two sides played out a goalless draw.
Zouma was paired along with Thiago Silva in the centre-back position, and while Silva cut a calm figure at the heart of defence, Zouma was a bit nervy.
The French defender made quite a number of mistakes that could have cost the team, and this follows the error he made in the 3-3 draw against Southampton.
Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen, hailed Silva’s performance against PSG, but admitted that Zouma brought tension to the defence.
“Zouma next to him [Silva] fills you with a bit of fear,” Owen told BT Sport.
“But as soon as you see the ball go into Silva you relax and that’s what the whole team will be feeling that.
“As soon as he in possession or is part of the team he spreads that confidence to everybody.”
