Chelsea legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech was a shock addition to Chelsea’s Premier League squad list, which was announced on Tuesday, with the former Czech International, having been spotted in training several times over the summer and this season.
Cech was added as an emergency backup, although the 38-year-old may never really get to feature.
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Paul Merson has told Frank Lampard that the inclusion of Petr Cech, doesn’t send the right message to Chelsea youngsters.
He told Starsport: “Petr Cech’s chances of actually playing again for Chelsea are absolutely minimal even though he’s been named in their Premier League squad.
“But if I’m an 18-year-old goalkeeper trying to make my way at the club, I’d be wondering what chance I’ve got if they can bring Cech out of retirement.
“Chelsea have done really well bringing through their young players under Frank Lampard the last couple of years. They should keep doing it.”
