See the player ratings after a very important victory
Mendy: Didn’t have much to do. Was well protected by his defence. Made one good save and seemed confident. May need to work on his ball distribution. 7/10
Apzilicueta: Showed that he’s very much a leader in the team. Good defensively but didn’t contribute much to the attack. Was involved in the opening goal. 7/10
Thiago Silva: Put the mistakes of the previous game behind him. Solid defensive performance. 7/10
Zouma: Strong and solid at the back, and helped the team with a brilliant header for Chelsea’s second goal, that helped ease tension. 8/10
Chilwell: Excellent league debut performance for Chelsea. Scored a good opening goal with a fierce shot. Assisted Zouma for a fine cross for the second goal. Solid at the back and went forward to support the attack. 9/10
Jorginho: Did well to convert two penalties with ease. Beside the goals, he was generally excellent in the middle of the park. Made the midfield his own as Chelsea dominated Palace for 90 minutes. 8.5/10
Kante: Solid in midfield. Worked really hard for the team to make sure Palace didn’t get a chance to expose the defence. 7/10
Havertz: Getting more used to the pace and physicality of the league. Getting better with each game. 6/10
Hudson-Odoi: Couldn’t make an impact in the first half, but had a more impactful performance in the second half. 7/10
Werner: Had one shot straight at Vicente Guaita. Didn’t have much room to exploit Palace from the left. 6/10
Tammy Abraham: Lacked service in the first half, but did better in the second half. Won a penalty for Chelsea and his holdup play in the second half was better. 6/10
Pulisic: Late sub for Hudson-Odoi.
Kovacic: Late sub for Kante.
