Premier League rivals Arsenal considered a move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho before eventually doing a deadline day deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
According to The Athletic, a move to Arsenal for Jorginho failed to materialise after the Blues told Arsenal that Jorginho was not for sale.
Arsenal had hoped Chelsea will make a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, which will make Jorginho available but the Blues opted against a move for Rice on deadline day.
Following Chelsea’s decision not to sign Rice, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wasn’t keen on losing Jorginho, who is also Chelsea’s vice-captain.
