Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois formed a good relationship with Gareth Bale, during their time at Real Madrid. The pair were teammates at Madrid, but Bale is now set for a second spell in the Premier League.

Bale didn’t get much playing time under Zinedine Zidane, which prompted his loan move away from the Santiago Berbabeu.

The Welshman has returned to the Premier League, to feature, for Tottenham, and Courtois, who once manned the Chelsea goalpost, has wished Bale well, while also admitting that he joined the wrong London club.

“What Bale talked about with the coach is personal,” Courtois told El Larguero.

“I don’t know what he thought, but then they are decisions that each one makes.

“I had a good relationship with Gareth and I wish him the best of luck this year, even if he’s not playing for the good London team.

“He is a great player.”

Chelsea will face Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on November 28.
