Chelsea were drawn in the game group as Sevilla, and the two teams are the favourites to qualify from Group E.

Sevilla have been in top form under Julien Lopetegui, but surprisingly lost on Saturday for the first time 19 La Liga matches since Celta Vigo beat them on 9 February.

The defeat was only was their second defeat of the season in all competitions after losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the Super Cup in Budapest.

Chelsea and Sevilla have something in common, as they have been successful in the Europa League in recent years.

Chelsea have never met Sevilla in European competition, and this will be the fifth side Chelsea have faced in the Champions League from Spain.

Chelsea and Sevilla will fight each other to top the group, and the Blues have topped our Champions League group 11 times, although we finished runners-up in the last two campaigns, in 2017/18 and 2019/20.

Chelsea have only lost the first match in a Champions League campaign twice in our 16 previous seasons in the competition (winning 10) – Basel in 2013/14 and Valencia last season.

Chelsea were beaten by Spanish side Valencia last season, as the Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
