Some Chelsea fans are amused why Blues boss Frank Lampard is a huge fan of Mason Mount, but it isn’t just the Chelsea manager who has been impressed with the performance of Mount.
Mount has already worked his way into the England senior team set up, and England boss Gareth Southgate has as well been so impressed with his performances for the Three Lions.
Mount may not give you some dazzling skills, neither may he sprint with the ball across many metres, but one thing you can be sure about is his work rate. Not many players like to work hard on the pitch, but it’s one of Mount’s best characteristics that have endeared him to the hearts of Lampard and Southgate.
Mount came on as a sub for England in the 3-0 win against Wales, and he impressed so much that his manager Gareth Southgate had to look for a chance to talk to him.
To the extent that when Southgate was asked about Jack Grealish, the coach couldn’t resist moving the conversation on to Mason.
“He presses so well, he moves the ball so quickly,” the England boss raved.
Mount made the most appearances for Chelsea last season, and he’s set to play a key role again this season, despite all the top signings made by the Chelsea manager.
