Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has had a difficult time the past few months, due to an Achilles injury problem that kept him out of action for a long time.
Loftus-Cheek had lost his place in the Chelsea team, having been a key player in the latter part of the season for Maurizio Sarri, as the Blues went on to win the Europa League.
The 24-year-old had also lost his place for the England national team, as he was part of the England squad that made the semi-final of the World Cup in 2018 in Russia.
In a bid to win back his place for the Three Lions and also hit top form, Loftus-Cheek has gone on loan to Crystal Palace for the entire season.
England boss Gareth Southgate has hailed his decision and believes that he’d come back better for it.
“When you’re making career decisions, you want to be playing football first and foremost and if there is more likelihood of playing football more regularly at Fulham, given the amount of football that Ruben has unfortunately missed with various injuries, then for his own development and his own enjoyment of his career then I think that is the key,” Southgate stated.
“Then if he can play well, getting back in the England team gets on the radar. But he’s missed nearly 18 months.
“We know the talent that he has, we know what he is capable of. Hopefully he can get back to playing regularly with Fulham and then he can go from there.”
