After two transfer windows of inactivity, Chelsea went on to make seven signings during the summer transfer window, with six of the new players expected to feature in the starting eleven this season.
The first league game of the season showed that Frank Lampard’s side was a work in progress, and the defeat to Liverpool coupled with a 3-3 draw against West Brom where Chelsea were 3-0 down at half-time, made sure that Frank Lampard was heavily criticised.
However, a 4-0 win against Crystal Palace, mixed with a very assured display have calmed the nerves down.
Ben Chilwell who was the best player on the pitch against Palace, have revealed that Frank Lampard’s new look side is now beginning to blend.
Chilwell said after the victory: “There has not really been a pre-season, players are coming back from injuries and there have been a lot of different factors, not just for ourselves but for all the teams, and it is going to take a few weeks for everyone to bed in together.
“We are working very hard on the training pitch and in this second half especially we showed that it is starting to gel together nicely.”
