Former Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois’ dad has slammed Keylor Navas for his treatment of his son.

According to his father, Thierry Courtois, Navas was a problem for his son when he first arrived Real Madrid.

Thierry Courtois said: “His transfer was a bit complicated. The campaign had already started and he was late in preseason. But above all, Keylor was still there.

“He had to wait two or three games to start. This did not smooth his integration because Keylor was always there, there was an internal competitiveness difficult to handle. Also external with the journalists, who were in favour of Keylor. Once he went to PSG, everything eased.”

Courtois is now in his third season in Madrid, and is doing well for the Los Blancos, with Keylor having left for PSG last year.

Thierry also spoke positively of Petr Cech’s rather calming influence on his son at Chelsea after Courtois returned from his three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

He said: “Petr received him very well. He was the first one who came to meet him in his first training session, he always him gave advice and helped to integrate him. He was a great teammate he could always count on. The same couldn’t be said for Keylor. Once he left, things got easier.”
