Chelsea signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £48m, and the German international is proving that he can be a top player in the Premier League this season.
The 24-year-old hasn’t taken too much time to adjust to the demands of the Premier League, and scored two stunning goals in the 3-3 draw against Southampton.
Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips, is full of praise for Werner, and has likened him to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Asked if he rates Werner’s start to life at Chelsea, Phillips told Betfred: “Yeah, I do.
“I think he showed his class in his goal [against Southampton] where he flicked it over the keeper and headed it in, other players would have panicked in that situation.
“It’s fantastic, he’s got the ability to drop deep. He reminds me a little bit of Thierry Henry where he’s able to drop deep, drive at players, drop the shoulder and finish.
“He’s an exciting player. [Kai] Havertz as well looks really exciting.”
