Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was keen on signing Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger on loan when the German international became available following the arrival of Thiago Silva.
Everton tried to sign a center half in the dying stages of the summer transfer window and made a move for Rudiger.
Despite Rudiger being available, Everton rejected the chance to sign the German centre-back due to Chelsea’s demands.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea wanted a £5 million loan fee for the season. In addition, the Toffees would have needed to pay all of Rudiger’s £150K-a-week wages.
The loan deal for Rudiger would have cost Everton £12.5million for the season, an amount Ancelotti deemed too expensive.
