Many would see Tammy Abraham’s goal as a mere tap in, but it was more than that.
Timo Werner’s explosive run during a counterattacking move helped seal the three points for Chelsea, with Abraham having to tap the ball home. But the Chelsea striker had covered many yards to be at the right place to receive the ball which he eventually scored from.
Abraham has now admitted that he was tired after making that run, and only managed to beat the goalkeeper with a clean strike.
“We knew we are quick on the counter-attack so I had to get myself forward,” Abraham said after the game.
“I was tired but I had to stay in control and pass it through the keeper and that is what I did and killed the game off, thankfully.
“It was 1-0 for a long time and those games are always tricky when you are 1-0 up and you can’t get the second goal. It is very easy to drop your heads and lose confidence but we didn’t do that, we kept confidence and kept going.”
