On Wednesday night, Germany beat Czech Republic 1-0 at home in an international friendly, with Luca Waldschmidt scoring the winner early in the first-half.
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger played the entire 90 minutes of the game as he played in a back three, and the 27-year-old did well in defence as Germany kept a clean sheet in that game.
Rudiger is currently behind Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma in the Chelsea pecking order, but a Chelsea fan believes Frank Lampard should start him in defence against Newcastle next weekend.
Mayowa wrote on twitter: “I have a feeling frank might start rudiger against castle cos he has been a great impact to Germany today by using the wider areas and I think using the wider areas will help the ball reach either ziyech or chilwell to be able to assist or cross 🤷 am I ryt”
Many other Chelsea fans admitted that they were pleased with Rudiger’s midweek display.
Meanwhile, Rudiger also featured for 90 minutes as Germany defeated Ukraine 3-1, and he was equally impressive.
