Timo Werner has taken his goal-scoring form from Chelsea to national duty with Germany, as he bagged a brace in their 3-1 win over Ukraine.
Werner showed good strikers instincts to score twice against Ukraine in their UEFA Nations League game on Saturday night.
For the first goal, Werner scored a poacher’s goal for Germany’s second goal of the game, and his second showed why he is a quality striker.
Werner has now scored 7 goals in his last 5 games for club and country.
Speaking after the game, Werner said: “Timo Werner: “My first goal was really simple because the assist from Leon was very, very good. To score two goals here in Leipzig, where I had four great years, is a great feeling. I always enjoy returning to Leipzig. It’s a shame that we couldn’t have any fans in here today.”
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante also got a rare goal for France in their 1-0 win over Portugal.
