New Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy didn’t take so long to impress Chelsea fans, with his heroics in goal, and the summer signing from Rennes, has also left a huge impression on the players as well.
Chelsea’s defence has looked very strong under Mendy, and the Senegal international has conceded just one goal in his six appearances for the club, and has kept four clean sheets in a row, something that hasn’t happened at Chelsea since 2010.
After the game against Burnley, which Chelsea won 3-0, Mendy took to his Instagram page and wrote: “Best way to end a good week”.
A number of Chelsea players replied to his post, in admiration for his work so far. Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell praised him in his post, with James saying ‘no goals allowed’.
More recently, Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma spoke in favour of Mendy.
Speaking to Standard Sport, Zouma said: “He has been great, with the ball at his feet and he is big, too.
“He has presence and catches the ball when he comes out. He is talking a lot, doing a great job. He settled in very quickly, but we have to keep focused.”
