Antonio Rudiger got his first start of the Premier League season in the 2-0 win against Newcastle.
Rudiger was in fine form in that game as Chelsea kept a clean sheet against the Magpies.
Rudiger was brought in for the absent Thiago Silva, and started in defence along with Kurt Zouma.
BBC Sport’s Garth Crooks included Rudiger for his team of the week, and was pleased with the German’s display.
“Rudiger, back in the side, looked like he’d never been away against Newcastle and played his part in another clean sheet for the Blues. He may not be in Thiago’s Silva’s class but his commitment to the cause is unquestionable,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
The 27-year-old who was linked with a January exit after falling out of favour with Frank Lampard, has revealed that he could yet remain at the club, after holding positive talks with the boss.
