Mason Mount may not be the most popular name among fans in the Chelsea team, but the 21-year-old is definitely a manager’s delight.
Besides his quality on the ball, Mount has the desire to press for the ball and do the dirty job high up the pitch.
Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has named Mount as a player who makes things easy for his teammates, especially the fullbacks, due to his work rate.
“One of his best attributes is without the ball. He hunts, he closes down, he is a tireless worker,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
“If you’re a full-back playing behind Mason Mount your job is so much easier because you’ve got someone that will do everything to win that ball back.
“He picks and chooses his moments. He’s a willing runner and when Chelsea press high he is one at times who is the furthest man forward so he will take that responsibility and go and close down and be the catalyst.
“He’s had a brilliant start to his career at Chelsea, don’t forget he was out on loan. Everyone said he wouldn’t play this season, he is. He’s a wonderful young talent.”
