Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that he was pleased with the performance of Mateo Kovacic in the goalless draw against Tottenham.
The Blues boss went for a midfield three of N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.
Kovacic was particularly good on the ball and some of his driving runs were impressive as well. The Croatian was still able to work very hard in the middle of the park, and thus impressing his manager with his overall display.
Lampard admitted that he was very pleased with the performance of Kovacic, and hailed it as a disciplined performance.
“Brilliant today, and disciplined as well. I think since he’s been [back] in the team with the game against Sheffield United I thought he was fantastic here at home,” Lampard told Chelsea TV.
“Playing on and off the ball brilliantly. Speed and driving through midfield, disciplined when we turn the ball over, tracking people.
“His performance was huge tonight. I think our whole midfield was huge tonight and Kova himself personally was absolutely outstanding.”
