Chelsea topped the table for a few hours after beating Newcastle United 2-0 at the St James Park on Saturday afternoon.

Callum Hudson-Odoi had previously talked about a likely title triumph before the game against the Magpies, but Frank Lampard has moved to quench every talk about the title.

Rather, the Blues boss encouraged his players to remain humble, with the league still a long way to go.

Lampard who has the experience of winning the league multiple times as a player, said: “I know we are top of the league for five minutes but we have to think about the big picture.

“We know that there is improvement and work to be done. We have to remain humble.”

Lampard further stated: “I’m pleased. It was a dangerous game for us. We lost here last season.

“We could have scored more goals – that was a frustration – but generally the lads dealt with it very well. It’s a hugely important win.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
