Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is afraid the Premier League title race won’t be between just Liverpool and Manchester City this season as he expects Chelsea to be firmly in the race.
“I’m happy about Pep signing a new contract,” Klopp told reporters.
“But I’m a little bit afraid it won’t be Guardiola against Klopp over the next few years as it looks like Frank (Lampard) and Chelsea are building a proper team there.
“Man United will not stay without trying and Arsenal will do the same and are in a good way as well.
“Tottenham look really dangerous this year. Leicester are obviously and 100% Wolves will not sleep.
“I’ll have forgotten somebody, not because I’m being disrespectful but because I’ve seen the development of a lot of other teams and see the steps they make.
“I’m happy Pep is staying with me for longer!”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has warned the Blues not to get carried away with ourselves at this early stage of the season amid talks of Chelsea challenging for the title this season.
Asked if Chelsea can win the Premier League title this season, Lampard said: “I’m certainly not going to go there with that one after nine games.
“It would be very easy to get excited about being in a lofty position. But we are improving. The first port of call was to close the gap on the top two. So we can’t get carried away with ourselves at this early stage. We have to try to reach the levels of consistency set by Liverpool and City. I’m just happy with where we’re at now.”
