Some Chelsea fans tend to assume that Blues boss Frank Lampard has a way of favouring Mason Mount compared to other players.

Since last season, Mount has been a mainstay in the Chelsea team, and despite the significant summer signings, Mount’s place in the squad has been very assured.

Frank Lampard has admitted that Mount’s hard work is what has endeared him to the young midfielder.

Mount has now revealed that he does his best to impress the boss and he doesn’t seem to be the manager’s pet like people say.

“As a footballer nowadays, the biggest focus you can have is on playing and blocking out everything else that comes with it – a lot of things do come with being a footballer,” Mason Mount told The Guardian.

“I’m very headstrong and I don’t really let too many things get to me.”

Mount was asked whether he had ever felt like the teacher’s pet. “Not at all,” he replied. “I’m a player that wants to do his best for the team and work hard. Maybe people take that the wrong way, I don’t know.”
