Chelsea beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Saturday afternoon to briefly move up to the top of the Premier League table.

A Federico Fernandez own-goal opened the scoring in the first half before Tammy Abraham secured all three points for the Blues.

BT Sport co-commentator Steve McManaman criticised Newcastle United for their poor performance against Chelsea in the final moments of the game after a Newcastle throw-in.

“This bit here,” began the former Liverpool ace. “This drives me mad.

“They’ve got a throw in by Chelsea’s penalty area and it’s ended up with their goalkeeper! How has that happened?!

“How has that happened? You’re 2-0 down in the last seven minutes of a game! You’ve got a throw-in in the danger area and you’ve gone 90 yards backwards!”
