Chelsea and Tottenham played out a safe goalless draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening, in what was a very cagey affair with few chances to show.
Chelsea right-back Reece James had a solid game in right-back, and put in a couple of inviting crosses which were spurned by his teammates.
Speaking after the game, Reece James admitted that his side wanted to win the game but a draw was a good result in the end.
“Coming into the game, we knew it was going to be a tough game and we knew it was going to be hard to break them down but I still think we had a couple of chances where we could’ve nicked it,” Reece James told Chelsea’s official website.
“There were several plans and one of them was to try and get the ball in the box with quality to provide chances for the strikers. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t get a goal today.
“Obviously, we both had opportunities to finish the game off. I feel both teams were a bit too tired and lost concentration. It was a good team performance all around and we have to keep working and go again in the week.
“The aim is to win the game and if we can’t win the game the aim is not to concede and draw the game. I think we’ve come a long way since last season. A draw is a good result against one of the better teams this season.”
