Olivier Giroud started last season as Chelsea’s third choice striker behind Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi, but ended up the campaign as the club’s main striker.
This season, it has started in the same vein for the 34-year-old who’s currently behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.
Just like in January, Giroud was keen on making the Euro 2020 tournament and pushed to leave the club. This January, it would be the same fate yet again for the same reason.
France boss Didier Deschamps wants Giroud to get more playing time if he wants to feature in the squad for next summer’s euros tournament, and Giroud himself has reportedly made up his mind to leave, except things change.
Reports in France claim Giroud already has his heart set for a January exit from Chelsea.
If the World Cup winner eventually decides to leave, he won’t be short of suitors, with many clubs in England, Italy and France already monitoring his situation.
