According to talkSPORT, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is the club’s most important player this season.
“And speaking of weak defences, this was an area the Blues needed to address as they conceded more Premier League goals than any other side that finished in the top ten last season,” talkSPORT wrote.
“Silva has been at Stamford Bridge for less than three months but bringing in the veteran centre-back, 36, is looking like a masterstroke from Frank Lampard.
“As mentioned, Van Dijk and Alisson were crucial in taking Liverpool to the next level and although it’s far too early to say if Silva and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy are having the same effect, the early signs are promising.
“Kurt Zouma has also drastically improved this season and that could well be as a result of having the experienced Silva next to him and a great keeper in Mendy behind him. Silva clinches this prize as he’s been at the club a tad longer than Mendy.”
