Timo Werner’s opener in the 3-3 draw against Southampton has made the October shortlist for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award.

The goal was his first Premier League goal for the Blues and he did it in style.

Werner will be against Yves Bissouma (Brighton), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Manuel Lanzini (West Ham), Ross Barkley (Aston Villa, on loan from Chelsea), Patrick Bamford (Leeds United), Michail Antonio (West Ham) and Tom Cairney (Fulham) for October’s award.

This is the second month in a row where a Chelsea player has been shortlisted for the Goal of the Month, with Reece James’s strike against Brighton nominated in September.
