Chelsea defender Thiago Silva missed Saturday’s 2-0 win over Newcastle, as Frank Lampard decided to give him a rest for that game, after a long trip from Brazil, while on international duty.
Silva has been named in the Chelsea squad to face Rennes, and he has also confirmed that he’s set play in this Champions League tie.
The 36-year-old took to Twitter to confirm that he’s set for Rennes, with a tweet on Monday, thus: “Back in France and ready for tomorrow’s game #RENCHE??”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had moved to confirm that Silva is set to play Rennes on Tuesday.
Lampard said at his pre-match press conference on Monday, “Kai and Thiago will both travel and they are fit for selection.”
