The Premier League is currently on a hiatus, as all attention has been focused on the upcoming international games.

After eight round of matches, the table is gradually beginning to take shape, and the best players are already displaying their capabilities.

Media outlet talkSPORT, compiled their Player of the Season so far, and two Blues names made the cut.

Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva was named in the team, with left-back Ben Chilwell also featuring.

The outlet said of Thiago Silva: “It was calculated risk for the Blues but landing the 36-year-old Brazilian has been a stroke of genius – and it was a free transfer too.

“Some believed, after so long at Paris Saint-Germain, the intensity of the Premier League might be too much for him but he’s proving the doubters wrong already.

“He’s added a composure the Chelsea backline has lacked for some time and his leadership has helped his teammates up their game as well.

“A goal against Sheffield United at the weekend capped his start to life at Stamford Bridge.”

Of Ben Chilwell, they wrote: “Adding an attacking full-back to a weak Blues backline had the potential to very wrong for Frank Lampard.

“Instead, thanks to the addition of Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva, improving the central defensive area and their goalkeeping issue, Chilwell has been able to continue his marauding style and prove himself a vital addition.

“In just five matches he’s got two goals and two assists, while he’s getting the ball into the final third and the penalty area more than he ever did at Leicester.

“A risky move appears to be coming off a treat at Stamford Bridge.”
