Chelsea beat Sheffield United 4-1 thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Timo Werner.
Following the victory over Sheffield United on Saturday, Chelsea have now scored 6 set-piece goals this season which is a league high. The Blues have also conceded just three goals from set-piece.
Last season, the Blues shipped in 15 Premier League goals from dead-ball situations. Only three teams had a worse record, all of whom finished in the bottom four. Liverpool and Manchester City, meanwhile, conceded around half that number. At the other end, the top two led the way with 17 set-piece goals each. Chelsea managed just 11.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard revealed after the game against Sheffield United that he was happy with the improvement.
“Last year we weren’t happy that we conceded too many goals from set-pieces,” Lampard explained after the 4-1 win over Sheffield United. “We looked at it over the off-season.
“I’m very happy with the set-piece goals. Today shows how important they are because they make the game comfortable when — even though we’ve played well — it could have been (different).”
