Mikel Arteta won his first ever trophy as a manager, as Arsenal defeated Chelsea in last season’s FA Cup final.

The Blues slumped to a 2-1 defeat against the Gunners at the Wembley Stadium, as Chelsea looked below par in that game.

Arsenal are in their worst state ever in the Premier League this season, with Arteta’s side languishing in the relegation zone and having not won a single league game in 7 matches.

Nevertheless, Chelsea vs Arsenal is always a tough derby clash regardless of form, and Arteta is trying to play mind games leading up to the game.

The Arsenal boss has looked back at their win over Chelsea just five months ago and has claimed that the current Chelsea squad is different from the side he defeated and claimed that Frank Lampard’s current squad is the best in the league.

“Well obviously, Chelsea always have great players and a great squad,” said Arteta.

“The team that we faced a few months ago was a top one. In this moment, probably you’re talking about the strongest squad in the Premier League.

“They’re doing a really good job, I think Frank is doing a really good job, he’s got a team full of belief and confidence.

“Even though in the last results they got some defeats, they got back winning yesterday.

“And it’s a team that is going to be fighting in the top teams of the league for sure.”
