Ahead of the January transfer window, Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has been linked with a move to Spanish club Atlético Madrid.
The 30-year-old’s time at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming to an end after he was frozen out by Frank Lampard, having not even made a Premier League matchday squad since the end of September.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has now responded to speculation linking Alonso with a move to Atletico Madrid.
Probed on the rumours linking Atletico with Alonso, Simeone said: “I am not talking about what is being said from the outside. I’m thinking about tomorrow’s game.
“We have a rival who always competes very well, they have not had positive results but they have improved and competed to the maximum in the games they’ve played.”
