Kai Havertz was the star of the Bayer Leverkusen team before sealing a £70m move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, in his absence, Bayer Leverkusen’s teenage sensation Florian Wirtz, has been in excellent form for the German side.
The 17-year-old has scored four goals and five assists in just 16 appearances in all competitions this season, thus earning comparisons with their former hero, Havertz.
However, former Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen hero Michael Ballack, has cut down the comparisons between Havertz and Florian, insisting that the 17-year-old isn’t yet ready to fill the boots of Havertz.
“That can’t be said yet, because Kai Havertz was also able to mature for a few years,” the former Germany international told Sport1.
“It is Wirtz’s first year as a regular player. But he does it well above average.”
Havertz added: “Wirtz is a different type than Havertz and is smaller.
“Havertz’s statistics were unparalleled at his age, so be careful with comparisons.”
Havertz scored 16 goals and eight assists in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen last season, and this season he has scored four goals with one assist in all competitions.
