Chelsea rate Billy Gilmour highly, but the young midfielder is also attracting interest from many top sides.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Napoli are strongly interested in the 19-year-old midfield star and have been monitoring his situation since last season.
Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso is believed to be interested in the qualities of the youngster, and that the teenager can do the work for his team in the middle of the park.
Gattuso is ready to offload current midfielder Stanislav Lobokta to make room in the centre of the park for Gilmour.
Napoli will now try to sign Gilmour in the January transfer window on a loan deal, with hopes of signing him permanently during the summer.
Gilmour had been out injured for four months since July, and was given his first taste of competitive football in the Champions League clash against Sevilla, as he returned from a long-term knee injury with a late cameo performance in the 4-0 win for Chelsea.
