According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with Spanish club Atletico Madrid over the transfer of Marcos Alonso.
Marca report that the deal will be a loan one, with Diego Simeone’s side in need of full-back reinforcement following the 10-match ban to England international Kieran Trippier.
Alonso hasn’t played a game for the Blues in all competitions since he was withdrawn at halftime in Chelsea’s 3-3 draw at West Brom in late September.
Alonso is contracted until the summer of 2023 and the Blues will be hoping that the 30-year-old can turn in some fine displays while on loan at Atletico Madrid and attract suitors interested in a permanent deal.
