France boss Didier Deschamps has asked Chelsea boss Frank Lampard not to play Olivier Giroud every three days because it isn’t ideal for the 34 year old striker.
Giroud scored four goals as the Blues beat Sevilla last Wednesday and then scored again as Chelsea beat Leeds United on Saturday. The striker was rested for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Krasnodar.
Speaking of the striker’s increased minutes under Frank Lampard, Deschamps said: “I’m happy for him and I’m hoping it can last.
“If Lampard decides to have him play three days a week, that’s not ideal either.
“The happy medium is good, that he takes advantage of this ideal period for him. He is one of the very best attackers at international level.”
