When Tammy Abraham doesn’t score goals, he often gets criticised, irrespective of whether he plays well or not.
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba believes Tammy Abraham is a good striker and will do well at the Bridge.
The Chelsea legend looked back at his first season at the club when he was often criticised, following a big money move from Marseille.
Drogba joined Chelsea at 26 years old. In his first season at the club, 2004/05 campaign, where he scored only 10 times in the Premier League as Chelsea went on to win the league.
“As soon as I missed a chance it’s: ‘Why did they spend so much money on him?’ There’s even a song about it. But I liked that. It motivated me,” Drogba said.
“I was satisfied with my first six months with the club, despite the critics. People expected me to do what I did the last year with Marseille – that’s what made them want to sign me at Chelsea – but I just tried to be myself.”
On Abraham’s lack of shine so far, the 42-year-old said; “He’s talented, you could see that whenever he plays.
“I think he needs to keep focus. Its not easy wearing the number 9 jersey for this great club, I never wore it.
“He’s young and there’s a lot of competition in the squad, its actually good for him, to help him develop further.
“I believe he can succeed at Stamford Bridge. He needs to work on his headers, its important.”
Tammy Abraham’s fine start to the season has dropped recently, and we hope he gets back to his best.
