From being a title winner with Leicester City five years ago, Danny Drinkwater’s career took a new low when he was sent off in Chelsea’s Under-23s on Monday night clash against Spurs for kicking out at Tottenham youngster Alfie Devine.

In a thrilling Premier League 2 encounter, which Spurs took an early 2-0 lead, Chelsea did well to come from behind and win the game 3-2.

Goals from Myles Peart-Harris and Marcel Lewis had seen the Blues fight their way back to 2-2 in what was a pulsating encounter.

However, the game took a different turn with a little over 15 minutes left, as 16-year-old Devine, launched a horrific two-footed tackle on Drinkwater, and we all know Drinkwater is hardly in a mood for such.

The 30-year-old retaliated back as he kicked back at the Spurs youngster 14 years his junior, which sent players from both teams into a rumble for a few seconds.

Drinkwater and Devine were eventually sent off, and Chelsea went on to win the game 3-2.

Drinkwater hasn’t played for Chelsea’s senior team since March 2018 and has since been involved in different controversies. His loan spell at Aston Villa and Burnley last season didn’t work out fine, and he was even involved in a horror nightclub brawl in September 2019.
