By the day, John Terry’s link with the Derby County job keeps getting stronger.

Former Derby boss, Phillip Cocu was sacked as Rams manager last month and Wayne Rooney has since been placed in interim charge of the Championship club, where he is also a player and coach.

Reports now claim that, if given the job, Terry will bring in Blues legend Ashley Cole as his assistant.

According to the Mirror, if Terry is to be offered the Derby County job, he would like to bring in Ashley Cole as his assistant in his first role as first team manager.

Meanwhile, Chelsea legend and manager Frank Lampard, has endorsed Terry to do a good job as manager.

“I think it’s a great opportunity potentially for him if it is true, and also for Derby,” Lampard recently said.

“I’ve got a lot of affection for Derby from my time there and I know what a great club it is and what great fans they have.

“John will be a hungry, ambitious manager whether it’s Derby or another opportunity. He’s going to be a fantastic coach.”

Terry is currently working as the assistant manager to Dean Smith at Aston Villa.
