It was a very poor display from Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening, as the Blues were beaten 3-1 by an Arsenal side that had failed to win a single game in their last 7 league matches.

Chelsea were the favourites to beat Arsenal, but a lethargic display coupled with a lack of intensity and character made sure Chelsea went home with nothing.

Chelsea have another opportunity to redeem themselves with a home game against Aston Villa, and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that the defeat to Arsenal was a big lesson for him and his players.

Lampard said: “People wanted to talk us up as title contenders, I never accepted that was the case because we are not there, that takes time to build.

“Games like the Arsenal one are certainly ones we have to learn a very big lesson from – everybody, myself included – because when I see that in the first half I don’t like it. I don’t like it so it can’t happen.”
