Timo Werner was signed to bang in the goals for Chelsea due to his high numbers we saw from during his time with RB Leipzig.
It hasn’t been a good season so far for the young German forward who looked to be on fire at the start of the campaign.
With four goals in 14 games in the league this season, Werner’s stats have been unimpressive.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was rooting for Werner to score against the Hammers, but was left disappointed when he missed a one on one chance and also hit another strike at the goalpost.
Chelsea boss Frank has now revealed that he was disappointed Werner didn’t get his goal but is sure he’d soon return to scoring form.
“It will help confidence,” Lampard told Sky Sports after the match.
“The question about trying to keep a cool head in important moments… it’s crucial if you’re going to do anything good over a long period of time. As a squad this year it’ll be tough for us maybe to challenge all the way because we haven’t really had those moments.
“‘It feels we have to grow a bit of character, confidence in games. We saw at Wolves, we should have dealt with that game. Today we dealt with a really tough. ‘So good confidence but I’m gutted Timo didn’t get his goal because I think that would have been great for his confidence.
“He’s getting chances so I think that will come and it’s confidence for the team.”
