Ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game against Russian side Krasnodar at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour will make his first start of the season.
Gilmour missed the start of the season due to a knee injury he suffered last season and only returned to training recently.
Lampard said: “Billy will start tomorrow and I don’t want to have that thought [about a loan away] until the window opens.
“We have options, but that can quickly change. I will make that decision going forward.”
Meanwhile, Gilmour has vowed to fight for his Chelsea spot after recovering from a knee injury.
“I’m enjoying it. It’s a great experience and great for my development to play with these world-class players. There’s so many trophies in there and I’m learning every day,” Gilmour said.
“It’s nice to get recognised for the good stuff. I’m going to keep working hard and continuing my form once I’m back from my injury.
“It’s going to be a hard team to get into but hopefully, I’ll get more game time and experience.”
