Chelsea boss Frank Lampard must have wanted a much easier draw on paper in the Champions League round of 16.
The Blues have been drawn to face Atletico Madrid in the next round of the competition, and Lampard has admitted that it’s a tough draw.
Lampard has responded positively to the draw and he insists that Chelsea should be ready to meet any team in any round of the competition. Lampard also urged his side to feel confident of beating the Spanish giants.
“I watched them knock Liverpool out last year and they are obviously a great team,” Lampard told the media, “and they have that experience and they have quality in their squad.
“So I think most people would say they are certainly one of the toughest teams we could have drawn on paper but we’ll have to turn up and do our job and be confident we can beat them.”
Atletico are joint top of the league, level on points with Real Sociedad, and have two games in hand. Diego Simeone’s side however found it difficult to get through to the next round of Champions League.
