Chelsea will have the opportunity to avenge last season’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, with the Blues having been drawn against League Two side Morecambe in the FA Cup third round.
Instead of being intimidated at facing Chelsea, Morecambe manager Derek Adams, has revealed that he’s pleased with the opportunity to face Chelsea.
Adams only disappointment is that fans of the club won’t be able to make the trip to Stamford Bridge.
“It’s a fantastic draw for the football club,” said Morecambe boss, Derek Adams.
“Everyone associated with Morecambe Football Club throughout the years have been waiting for a tie like this.
“It’s been 18 years since the club progressed to the third round of the FA Cup and to get a Premier League team in the stature of Chelsea, away from home at Stamford Bridge is fantastic.
“A heavyweight in Chelsea against a lightweight in Morecambe, I think that’s fantastic for the town, it’s fantastic for the area but the supporters are the only aspect we’re disappointed with.
“It is a terrible shame that they can’t get into the games just now and I’m sure that if they were able to get into Stamford Bridge, then they would have gone in their thousands.”
