Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes squad depth is the advantage Chelsea have in the Premier League title race.
Carragher believes Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has more options at his disposal than rivals Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
Carragher said on Sky Sports: “You might make an argument now, I think we both are, that that’s maybe a squad as strong as any in the Premier League.
“You could argue, not argue, I think it’s a fact that maybe Manchester City and Liverpool have a stronger XI.
“But in terms of back-up players right now, and other teams getting injuries, certainly Liverpool, that [Chelsea’s] strength of squad is absolutely fantastic.
“And it doesn’t feel like the team would be weakened too much no matter who is playing.”
Arsenal icon Freddie Ljungberg, sat alongside Carragher, added: “Yeah, 100 per cent. I liked what they looked like last year, then they filled up with some more players this summer.
“I think they are 100 per cent title contenders, they play good football so people need to watch out.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also talked about Chelsea’s squad depth.
Klopp said: “If I watch football games at the moment then Chelsea, for me, look like favourites.
“They have the biggest squad, great players playing well together after a rusty start – and they are full on.
“They have unbelievable opportunities to change in games and make changes from one game to the other – so that is it.”
