Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has given his verdict on Chelsea’s performance after the 3-0 victory over West Ham on Monday night.
Summer signing Thiago Silva headed the Blues ahead after just 10 minutes at Stamford Bridge before a late brace from Tammy Abraham secured a 3-0 victory for the Blues.
Speaking about Chelsea’s performance after the game, Lampard told Sky Sports: “The game was hard.
“We started really well but in the second half we didn’t get so much of the ball. It was nice to see that at the end because we had a period at 1-0 where it was tough, we dealt with that well. Once we got the second goal, Kovacic came on and got us up the pitch and we could have had more goals in the end.
“You’re obviously delighted when you get that second and third goal because West Ham can hurt you.
“It wasn’t vintage tonight. I thought there were some good parts, but the main thing was the character coming on the back of two defeats.’
He added: “The season is looking different to every other season, for whatever reason. It is hard for a club with the expectation and squad we have.
“You get a few challenges when you lose a couple of games and I have to be the one to drive it, there was a bit of tension going into the game. We showed graft without being beautiful and it was a good result.”
