Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand was one of the first persons to criticise Chelsea’s sacking of Frank Lampard, as the Blues legend wasn’t given the opportunity to bounce back from a slump.

However, Ferdinand has admitted that new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is a top manager and has given glowing reports about him.

According to Ferdinand, Tuchel is a man who pays attention detail and many of the world class managers he had coached were impressed with his managerial expertise.

“He was one of the most impressive managers I’ve met. Very insightful, a man of detail,” Rio Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

“Speaking to the players who he managed (at PSG) – Dani Alves, Gianluigi Buffon – they couldn’t speak any more glowingly about him.

“The ambience at the club was at an all-time high. He’s German and I think that’s an interesting point as Kai Havertz and Timo Werner haven’t caught fire yet.”
