When Chelsea paid nearly £50m to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, it was expected that the German international will be the number one striker at the club.

With Olivier Giroud ending last season with the most form, Tammy Abraham’s future at the club was put under threat ahead of this season.

However, of all three strikers, it’s Abraham who has now scored the most goals with 11 so far in all competitions.

The 23-year-old has now revealed why he wasn’t worried about the signing of Werner.

“I have been at the club since the age of six so I have known how it has always been,” he said after the Luton clash.

“Chelsea always bring top-quality players in and there is always going to be great competition.”
