According to Daily Mail, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is beginning to lose patience with Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and will sack the club legend if he cannot get Chelsea back in the race for the top four.
Despite a dreadful run that has seen the Blues lose five of our previous eight games, Abramovich do not want to make a hasty decision on the future of Lampard.
Abramovich reportedly acknowledges Lampard worked wonders last season to get Chelsea into the Champions League and still view him as a very promising young manager.
However, there are doubts in the Chelsea boardroom over Lampard’s suitability as head coach, particularly with regards to his lack of experience.
Abramovich will reportedly prefer to make a decision on Lampard’s future at the end of the season but is ready to sack Lampard soon if results fail to improve.
The Blues are currently five points adrift of a top-four place, but that gap will extend to eight if Liverpool beat Burnley tonight.
If that gap continues to grow, Abramovich will have no option than to sack Lampard now instead of waiting until the end of the season.
The Blues face Luton in the FA Cup on Sunday before crucial Premier League matches against Wolves, Burnley and Tottenham.
Can Lampard turn things around and save his job as Chelsea boss?
