Chelsea headed into the game against Fulham with four defeats in the last six league games, while the Cottagers were unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions.

It was expected to be a tough game, and Chelsea needed a win to keep up pace with the clubs ahead.

Chelsea managed to secure a late win courtesy of a Mason Mount 78th minute strike, and Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has insisted that the key to boosting back confidence is to keep winning games.

“It was difficult,” he said. “We knew that we were playing against a team that had a couple of good results. They were improving in their play, they were conceding very few chances to the opposition, so we had to fight.

“When you are in a bad run of results the key is to start winning. It’s very important and obviously we have to start winning more games and this was a game that we knew we had to win and we did the job.”
